A Nationally Recognized University: Improving Law School Ranking

Challenge: A nationally recognized university’s law school was highly ranked overall in U.S. News & World Report, with several of its programs ranked in the Top 10.

Objective: To continue increasing the law school’s ranking for U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 publication, after implementation of a series of new initiatives, including the construction of an entirely new law building.

Solution: A Qualitative Exploratory was conducted, consisting of in-depth phone interviews among key influencers involved in ranking law schools: law school Deans, faculty and administrators from both top 10 and lower ranked law schools across the country.

Result: Plan-it provided insight into the ranking process as well as strategies and tactics to increase awareness/knowledge of critical strengths of the law school among key influencers of the U.S. News and World Report ranking. Since initiatives were implemented based on the study’s insights, the law school moved up 6 spots in the ranking.
